Keyworker Children's Residential

Full Time : Term Time Only : £24, 664 actual p.a. for 40 hours per week : Monday to Friday

Set shift pattern between 7am and 10pm

39 working weeks and 6.4 weeks paid holiday

As a Keyworker, your role is important in helping students with complex physical and health needs to develop and achieve.  Working across the school and home living area, you will be working in an environment where your efforts and commitment can have life-changing results.  Your ambition for the young people will help them to take the next steps in fulfilling their potential. 

Previous experience of caring and supporting individuals to achieve their potential is desirable along with skills as a strong team player and the resilience to keep going at difficult times and to ask for support if needed.  Excellent written and oral communication skills and computer literacy is required.  You will need a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or a willingness to complete this qualification (fully funded and supported by the school).

Student Support Assistant

Part Time and Full Time opportunities - Term Time only - Permanent

£11.79 per hour for 39 working weeks and 6.4 weeks paid holiday

Full Time - 40 hours per week - £21,415 actual p.a - Monday to Friday - Hours worked on set shifts between 7am and 10pm

Pattern 1Monday (12.30-10pm), Tuesday (12.30-10pm), Wednesday (7am-2.30pm), Thursday (7am-2.30pm), Friday (7am-3.30pm/1pm-9.30pm)

Pattern 2: Monday (8am-3.30pm/7am-2.30pm), Tuesday (7am-2.30pm), Wednesday (12.30-10pm), Thursday (12.30-10pm), Friday (7am-3.30pm)

Part Time

3 days - 24.5 hours - £13,116 actual p.a (2 late, 1 early)

Monday (12.30-22pm), Wednesday 12.30-10pm) and Friday (8.30am-3.30pm)

3 days - 22.5 hours - £12,046 actual p.a (2 early, 1 late) 

Tuesday (7am-2.30pm), Thursday (12.30-10pm) and Friday (8.30am-3.30pm)

As a Student Support Assistant you will

· support students within the learning and residential environments in order to promote their intellectual, physical, social and emotional development;

· promote a caring environment and provide a high standard of care including washing, toileting, bathing and mealtime assistance;

· ensure that communication with students, staff and other departments is effective and contributes to our high standards of care and personal development for students;

· maintain excellent standards of safety and good practice in relation to safeguarding, health and safety issues, implementing students’ care plans and appropriately using the recording and reporting processes

The role will include a substantial amount of moving and handling and personal care.  Although experience of complex physical and medical needs is not essential, as we provide comprehensive training, an aspiration to enable students to learn and achieve meaningful independence is.  The successful candidate will be supported to complete the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, if not already achieved. 

Waking Night Student Support

7.30pm to 7.30am : Wednesday and Thursday nights available : Term Time only

£6,156 per shift p.a. (£11.79 per hour) plus unsocial hours allowance

39 working weeks plus 6.4 weeks paid holiday

As a Waking Night Student Support Assistant you will support our residential students during the night by

· attending to students personal care needs;

· ensuring that communication with students, staff, and other departments is effective and contributes to securing efficiency and high standards of care for students;

· appropriately using the recording and reporting processes;

· maintaining high standards of safety and observing good practice in relation to health and safety issues and to be aware of, and implement, students’ care plans.

The role will involve moving and handling children and young people.  Experience of complex physical and medical needs is desirable. 

You will get a total hourly payment of £15.72ph for the hours worked between 10pm to 7am on weekdays.  There is also flexibility to cover one night during 8 Open weekends in term time, in which the school is open to provide respite to families paid at £19.79ph.

The successful candidate will be supported to complete the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare and will work within a supportive and friendly team in a country school setting.

Care Support Assistant

Part-time : Term Time only : Permanent

£11.79 per hour : 39 working weeks plus 6.4 weeks paid holiday

24 hours per week : Monday to Thursday : 3.30pm to 9.30pm : £12,849 gross p.a.

As a Care Support Assistant you will be supporting the care needs of our students with physical disabilities and complex needs.  No experience is necessary as full training will be given, however a genuine desire to support our students with their eating and drinking and personal care is essential.

Valence School is a KCC Foundation residential and day Special School for children and young people with physical disabilities, complex medical needs and associated learning and communication difficulties.  The school is set on a beautiful campus on the outskirts of Westerham and is part of the Kent Special Educational Needs Trust (KsENT).
