We are seeking a Deputy Lead Nurse who would welcome this exciting opportunity to be part of our Health Team at Valence School and you would provide leadership to the nursing team to ensure the highest quality of service is delivered safely and effectively.

We require staff who are able to deliver individual programmes of care / care packages for Valence students.  This will include health related care and emergency situations and to be responsible for the health care of both day and boarding students. 

You will be confident in the understanding of evidence-based practice and are able to prioritise your work to provide direct care, assessment and support required.

As part of a wider health team, you will enjoy working collaboratively to find solutions and demonstrate empathy and understanding and will be uncompromising in their desire to attain the best care for our students.

To meet the needs of our students, we are particularly interested in applicants with experience in respiratory care, tracheostomy care, suctioning, enteral feeds, jejunostomy and gastrostomy care.  In return, you will be provided with regular support and clinical supervision, support with revalidation, a bespoke induction/training programme and a rewarding and interesting post.

Special School Nurse

Salary equivalent to NHS Band 5

Permanent : Term Time + 2 weeks (41 weeks working plus 6.8 weeks paid holiday) 0.6-1.0 WTE Monday to Friday : Flexibility will be considered

We are looking for a Special School Nurse who would welcome the opportunity to be part of an exciting venture, helping to shape a revised model of practice delivery within our school.  As part of a wider health team, you will enjoy working collaboratively to find solutions and demonstrate empathy and understanding and who is uncompromising in their desire to attain the best care for our students.

Supported by a team of Healthcare Assistants, our nurses will deliver staff training, and assess levels of staff competence, developing a robust programme of teaching and training.  Nurses will contribute to the assessment of students on admission and following any change in needs, will work with external agencies to facilitate specialist clinics and immunisation programmes, support the development and review of student care plans, manage medication within the school and maintain student’s emergency protocols.

You will be confident in the understanding of evidence-based practice and will be able to prioritise your work to provide direct care, assessment and support when required.

Special School Night Nurse
Salary equivalent to NHS Band 6
Permanent : 2 nights (20 hours per week), 9pm to 7.30am, Tuesday & Wednesday : Term Time only (39 weeks working plus 6.8 weeks paid holiday)

We are seeking a Special School Night Nurse to be the sole Health Care Professional working with the waking night staff of Valence School to be responsible for the health care of the students at Valence at night.  You will provide leadership to the team and ensure the highest quality of service is delivered safely and effectively.

You will deliver individual programmes of care / care packages for Valence students,  which will include health related care and emergency situations and be responsible for the health care of all residential students. 

We require staff who are confident in their understanding of evidence-based practice and who are able to prioritise their work to provide direct care, assessment and support required.

Healthcare Assistant (One-to-One)

Permanent : Monday to Friday, 32.5 hours per week : 8.30am to 3.30pm : Term Time only (39 weeks working plus 6.4 weeks paid holiday) 

£19,245 gross p.a. - £13.04 per hour

As a One-to-One Healthcare Assistant you will support the nursing team with their duties to enable students with complex disabilities to engage with their normal day to day activities.  This includes carrying out clinical interventions, recognising when a student becomes unwell and reporting to the registered nurses.  Training in all the relevant medical skills and procedures will be provided. This is a great opportunity for someone to gain a step into nursing!

Experience of complex physical and medical needs is desirable although full training will be given.  We offer a supportive, friendly working environment in a country school setting along with continuous training opportunities.  You will have the chance to make a real and positive impact on the lives of our fantastic students.

Physiotherapy Technician

Full-Time : Permanent : 37 hours per week : Term Time only (39 weeks working plus 6.4 weeks paid holiday)

Do you have a passion for supporting the lives and health outcomes of children and young people with physical disabilities and complex needs?

We have an exciting new opportunity to join the Therapy team and PE & Sports team to work jointly with both teams to promote health and independence by leading activities within PE lessons.  You will deliver postural and physical activity/management sessions that support therapeutic needs and you will demonstrate autonomous decisions to support all physical needs during PE led sessions.

Valence School is a KCC Foundation Special School with residential facilities for children and young people with physical disabilities, complex medical needs and associated learning and communication difficulties.  We are part of the Kent Special Educational Needs Trust.

You will have a physiotherapy qualification and be registered with the HCPC.  You will be enthusiastic, have excellent communication skills and be resilient to respond to changes and complex cases.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone starting their physiotherapy career and experience related to both PE and physical therapy would be desirable.
